Limited Space – Unlimited Possibilities

A rustic backyard beckons “that’s entertainment” in Irvine.

A dirt lot is rife with possibilities. What to do with it? Jeff Orrell asked himself this question as he looked over his blank-canvas backyard.

“I want a great pool and a great place to entertain, packed with amenities that reflect my lifestyle. I want big ideas in a small space,” Orrell says. He laughingly admits, “I asked a lot. And, I expected a lot.”

Orrell partnered with Urban Landscape to transform his vision into reality. For McCorkle and his team, a clean slate is the ideal canvas to create an outdoor masterpiece. Combined with Orrell’s specifications for a backyard design that melds entertaining and comfort, complete with a pool and lounge, what is the downside?

A CASUAL REFLECTION

“Space. Limited space was definitely our biggest issue as I sought to

incorporate a lot of outdoor living in a rather small space,” adds Orrell.

McCorkle and his team shape the vision, designing softscape, overall construction and details within the design tailored for Orrell’s active lifestyle. The newly-completed home is a rustic retreat accented by stone archways and breathtaking views of the foothills etched below striking sunrises. Just steps away, a custom-built stone pool fills the backyard. It features a luxuriously comfortable lounging space, a swim-up cocktail area and an overhead structure attached to a full-service sports bar.

MODERN TECHNOLOGY, LAID-BACK LUXURY

Modern technology meets laid-back luxury in the sports bar. It includes a Kegerator and television with surround sound for impressive entertaining. Handsome granite slab counter tops line the bar with recessed lighting and heaters for year-round use. And, for additional function and ease, a built-in stone pizza oven accommodates casual outdoor dining.

The results are a stunning property that blends two different worlds – casual and elegant – of inspired design, modern tile and rustic stone. Combining a unique and complimentary blend of materials including glass tile, stone and precast – one material used four different ways – into a unified vision. Orrell’s property fits a lot of design and living into a finite space.

What does Jeff think about his new property? “Love it a lot,” he exclaims. A lot of sentiment in a small sentence.
